Is Your ABSS Software "Expiring"? Understanding the 2026 Sunset Policy

The "Silent Risk" in Your Accounting System

You open your ABSS (formerly MYOB) software every day. It works. You issue invoices, you check your P&L. It feels fine.

But if you are running an older version, you might be driving a car with no insurance.

ABSS has updated their Sunset Policy, and if your software version is on the list, you are officially operating without a safety net. Here is what you need to know about the changes and why staying on an old version is a business risk you shouldn't take.

The "Kill List": Is Your Version Affected?

The rules are simple. ABSS focuses support only on the latest few versions to ensure compliance with Singapore’s changing tax laws.

As of the latest update, Technical Support is NO LONGER AVAILABLE for:

  • ABSS Accounting: Any version below v30.1

  • ABSS Premier: Any version below v30.1

  • ABSS Payroll: ALL versions (This product officially reached End of Support on 31 Dec 2023 and has been replaced by Financio Payroll).

Note: The current supported standard is v30.1, v30.2, v30.3, and the latest v30.4.

"It Still Works, So Why Should I Care?"

This is the most common question we get. You might think, "I don't need new features, so I don't need to upgrade."

But the Sunset Policy isn't about features. It’s about access. Once your version is "Sunsetted," ABSS (and partners like us) are officially blocked from performing critical rescue tasks for you.

If you crash on an unsupported version, here is what we CANNOT do:

  1. Password Resets: If your Admin leaves and forgets the password, we cannot reset it. You are permanently locked out of your own company file.

  2. File Repair: If your computer shuts down during a transaction and corrupts your data file, we cannot send it for repair. Your data is gone.

  3. License Adjustments: Need to add a new staff member user license? You can't.

  4. Activation Issues: If you change computers, you may not be able to re-activate the software license on the new machine.

The Compliance Trap (GST & InvoiceNow)

Beyond the technical risks, old versions simply don't speak the modern language of IRAS.

  • InvoiceNow: Only the latest versions (v30+) are fully integrated with the InvoiceNow (Peppol) network, which is becoming the standard for Singapore business.

  • GST Updates: Older versions may not handle the latest 9% GST logic or new reporting formats correctly, leaving you open to audit risks.

The Solution: Upgrade to v30.4

The good news? Upgrading is usually seamless.

Moving to the latest ABSS Premier v30.4 isn't just about getting "new software"—it is about restoring your safety net. By upgrading, you ensure that you have full access to technical support when you need it most.

Whether it’s a forgotten password, a file error, or a sudden compliance question, being on v30.4 means you are never left to face a crisis alone. It is the smartest insurance policy for your business data.

Don't Wait for the Crash

Upgrading after your file corrupts is a nightmare. Upgrading before is a strategy.

Unsure which version you are running?

Open your ABSS software, go to Help > About, and check the version number. If it starts with a number lower than 30, it’s time to talk.
