If you sell to (or buy from) other businesses in Singapore, InvoiceNow is about to make invoicing faster, cleaner, and more compliant—without emailing PDFs. This guide keeps things practical for both suppliers and customers.

What is InvoiceNow (in one minute)?

InvoiceNow is a nationwide e‑invoicing network powered by the Peppol open standard. Instead of attaching a PDF, your accounting/finance system sends a structured e‑invoice through accredited access points to your customer’s system direct, standardised, and trackable.

Why it matters: fewer manual key‑ins, fewer errors, faster approvals, and smoother GST compliance.

Who needs to pay attention in 2025–2026?

  • Soft launch from 1 May 2025: Existing GST‑registered businesses can start early adoption.

  • From 1 Nov 2025: Newly incorporated companies that voluntarily register for GST must use InvoiceNow to transmit invoice data to IRAS.

  • From 1 Apr 2026: All new voluntary GST registrants must adopt InvoiceNow.

  • Progressive rollout: IRAS will announce further phases for the remaining GST‑registered businesses.

Government vendors: InvoiceNow will be the default e‑invoice channel for registered businesses (replacing Vendors@Gov for this group over time). If you bill government agencies, plan to switch.

For SMEs with an existing accounting or finance solution

Step 1: Check if your accounting or finance solution is InvoiceNow-Ready and listed on the IMDA-accredited InvoiceNow-Ready Solution Provider List. Note: SQL Account is InvoiceNow-Ready.

Step 2: Get your InvoiceNow-Ready Solution Provider to activate the InvoiceNow feature on your existing solution.

Step 3: You are ready to InvoiceNow! Send and receive invoices directly through your finance or accounting solution.

Quick start (SMEs)

  • Already have software? Ask your provider to activate InvoiceNow. No need to change systems if yours is on the accredited list.

  • No system yet? Consider a free InvoiceNow‑Ready starter to receive/send basics, then upgrade later.

Practical FAQs

Do I still need to keep records? Yes—InvoiceNow helps transmit data, but you still retain GST record‑keeping duties.

Will this replace email invoices? For partners on the network, yes—e‑invoices flow system‑to‑system. You can still send PDFs to non‑participants during the transition.

Is it only for big companies? No—InvoiceNow is designed for all sizes, including SMEs and newly incorporated businesses.

Quick Recap

  • Stop emailing PDFs—send structured e‑invoices via InvoiceNow.

  • GST‑registered? Expect phased requirements from 2025–2026.

  • Start with your top 3 trading partners; test, then roll out.
