Are Your Customers Still Typing Your UEN Manually?
Let’s be honest: Nobody likes typing a 9-digit UEN number into their banking app. It’s tedious, prone to typos, and frankly, it gives your customer an excuse to say, "I'll pay this later when I have time."
In 2025, speed is everything. If you want your invoices paid faster, you need to remove the friction. The easiest way? Put your PayNow QR code directly on the invoice.
At Apscom Solutions, we’ve seen clients reduce their "overdue" list simply by making it easier to pay. Here is your step-by-step guide to adding a PayNow QR code to your ABSS (MYOB) invoice template.
Step 1: Get Your QR Image
First, you need the actual image file of your QR code.
Log in to your corporate banking app (DBS Ideal, OCBC Velocity, UOB Infinity).
Download your SGQR / PayNow Corporate QR.
Save it as a JPG or PNG file on your desktop.
Pro Tip: Crop the image so it’s just the square code (remove the extra white space) to save space on your invoice.
Step 2: Open the Form Designer in ABSS
Open your ABSS software.
Go to Setup > Customise Forms > Invoices.
Select the layout you use (usually Item or Service) and choose your template.
Click Customise.
Step 3: The "Add Picture" Magic
Now you are in the Form Designer. It looks a bit technical, but don't worry.
Look for the "Picture" icon in the top toolbar (it looks like a little landscape painting).
Click the icon, then click anywhere on the blank space of your invoice form.
A window will pop up. Browse and select your PayNow QR JPG file.
Click Open.
Step 4: Position for Impact
Your QR code is now on the form! But where should it go?
Don't hide it at the bottom. If it’s buried in the footer, they might miss it.
The "Hot Zone": We recommend placing it near the "Total Amount Due" (usually bottom right) or clearly at the Top Right header.
Resize it: Drag the corners of the image to make it roughly 2cm x 2cm. Big enough to scan, small enough to look neat.
Step 5: Add the "Call to Action"
A QR code without instructions is just a weird square.
Click the "Text" tool (the letter 'T' icon).
Draw a box next to or below your QR code.
Type: "Scan to Pay via PayNow" or "Preferred Payment Method."
(Optional) You can also type your UEN below it as a backup for desktop users who can't scan.
Step 6: Save and Test
Click Save Form (give it a new name like "Invoice_PayNow_2025" so you don't overwrite your old one yet).
Test It! Create a dummy invoice, save it as a PDF, and try scanning it with your own phone. If your banking app detects it immediately, you are ready to go live.
The Result: Frictionless Payment
Now, when your customer opens your PDF invoice, they don't have to switch apps to copy-paste numbers. They just Point, Scan, and Pay.
You look more professional, and your bank account gets filled faster. Win-win.
