If you’re running ABSS (formerly MYOB), now’s a good time to confirm whether your version is still supported. This quick guide shows you how to check your version against ABSS’s Sunset Policy and how to upgrade without downtime.

Step 1 — Check your ABSS version

In ABSS, go to Help → About and note your product (Accounting or Premier) and version (e.g., V30.2) or you can contact us with provide your serial number + company name and we can check for you.

Step 2 — Compare with ABSS’s Sunset Policy

According to the ABSS Sunset Policy page, support is provided for the latest release and several recent versions. As at the latest update on the policy page, the table shows:

ABSS Product

Latest Version

Other Supported Versions

Non‑supported Versions

ABSS Accounting

V30.4

V30.3, V30.2, V30.1

< V30.1

ABSS Premier

V30.4

V30.3, V30.2, V30.1

< V30.1

Always refer to the official ABSS page for the current table and dates. The page is updated from time to time.

What “sunset” means (in plain English)

ABSS may still run, but phone‑based technical support is no longer available for sunset versions. That includes:

  • Troubleshooting and configuration help

  • Data file repair or recovery

  • Increasing user licences or data files

  • Password retrieval/reset for the master administrator

If you rely on year‑end help, password resets, or data repair, a sunset version puts you at risk of delays during critical periods.

Step 3 — Plan a zero‑downtime upgrade

Upgrading doesn’t need to stop your business. Use this clean handover flow:

  1. Pre‑flight backupIn ABSS, go to File → Backup… → Backup All Data, tick Check Company File for Errors, then Continue. Save to a labelled folder (e.g., C:\ABSS\Backups). Optionally sync that folder to your cloud drive.

  2. Install latest ABSSInstall the current version on your PC/server (or a spare machine). Keep your old ABSS available until the cut‑over is complete.

  3. Restore & testFile → Restore, choose your backup, restore to a new folder, then login. Run a quick Trial Balance, Aged AR/AP, and GST Detail to sanity‑check figures and forms.

  4. Cut‑over without downtimePick an off‑peak time. Users finish in the old version, you restore the latest backup into the new version, and everyone logs into the new one next. Keep the old file read‑only for reference.

Multi‑location? Provide access using Remote Desktop solutions so branches and WFH users connect securely to the office server.

Quick FAQ

Do I have to upgrade immediately?

You can keep using a sunset version, but you won’t have ABSS phone support, data repair, password resets, or licence additions.

Will my data be safe during upgrade?

Yes—if you make a verified backup first and test the restore before cut‑over.

Can I roll back if needed?

Yes. Your backup + the old installation let you revert if something unexpected happens.

Quick Recap

  • Check Help → About for your version, then compare with the Sunset Policy table.

  • Sunset = no ABSS tech support (troubleshooting, data repair, password resets, licence changes).

  • Use the backup → install → restore → cut‑over flow to upgrade with zero downtime.

Need help verifying your version or planning the upgrade?

We’ll check your version against the latest ABSS policy, run a clean backup, test the restore, and guide your switch‑over—same day.
